No. 21 - The Only Retired Jersey
Widely considered one of the greatest to ever play the game of lacrosse, Frank Urso earned the right to have his No. 21 jersey retired and to date it is the only number to be retired at the University of Maryland in men's lacrosse.
In 1976 Urso became the first four-time first team All-American in the history of men's lacrosse since 1922-25.
Dubbed "The Hottest Shot Around" by Sports Illustrated in a 1975 artcile (click here to read it), Urso is still among the school's all-time leaders in points (4th, 208), goals (4th, 127) and assists (13th, 81). He is the school's all-time leader for points and goals among midfielders.
