As a Sophomore: Appeared in all four preseason tournaments (West Virginia, East Stroudsburg, Penn State and Millersville) ... defeated Travis Kimmel of Seton Hall, 3-2, in the opening round of the Millersville Belles Tournament ... topped another Big East wrestler as he decisioned Syracuse's Mike Neenan, 7-3.
As a Freshman: Compiled a 2-4 overall record … topped Bobby Crick of Franklin & Marshall in sudden death in the Millersville Invitational … also appeared in both the East Stroudsburg and Penn State opens.
Redshirted 1997-98: Compiled a 2-6 overall record … defeated Steve Daggett of George Mason, 4-3, in the West Virginia Open … won an opening round match against Gary Whitehouse of Boston College, 7-3, at East Stroudsburg … competed in three tournaments during the year.
Before Maryland: Earned three varsity letters for wrestling at Suffield Academy in Suffield, Conn. … captain senior year … team MVP … state prep champ … finished third in New England … record was 26-2 … as a junior, was runner-up in state preps and fourth in New England … captain of football team senior year … lettered three times in football and once each in lacrosse and baseball.
