As a Freshman: Began the season with a pin of Joe Bentz from Kutztown in 3:30 at the East Stroudsburg Open ... also defeated an unattached Joe Cristaldi, 8-4 ... hobbled by an injury and did not seen any action for the rest of the year.
Redshirted in 1998-99: Compiled a 3-3 overall record … won his first-ever collegiate match against Geoff Reyes, who was unattached, with a pin in 1:03 at the East Stroudsburg Open … his second win was also a pin in 3:32 against Kutztown's Todd Davey … also defeated Maryland's Scott Herfel, 4-2, at East Stroudsburg … competed in the Penn State Open and saw action in one match.
Before Maryland: Earned four varsity letters for wrestling at Colonia High School in Colonia, N.Y. … region champ … three-time district champion … 1998 & 1996 county champ … set two major school records with 107 wins and 60 pins … had a 28-2 record as a senior … 27-4 as a junior.
