The opening event for the 2011-12 Maryland wrestling season.
As a Sophomore (2011-12): Went 18-7 at 184 and 197 pounds...tied for the team lead with eight pins...finished third at the Clarion Open (11/6) to begin the season...placed third at the Shorty Hitchcock Open (1/15)...appeared in two dual meets for the Terps.
As a Freshman (UNC Greensboro): Finished 4-6 at 184 pounds...won his first collegiate match by decision at the Hokie Open (11/7)...finished fifth at the Pembroke Classic.
Before Maryland: Three-year letterwinner at Calvert Hall...as a senior in 2010, finished with a record of 55-6 at 189 pounds...won the Maryland state and Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) championship...finished fourth at National Preps...sixth at the Beast of the East...34-9 as a junior, and finished third in the state and MIAA...in 2008 placed fifth at states and sixth in the MIAA.
Personal: Full name is Anthony Allen Edward Gardner...sone of Gil and Lee Gardner...has two siblings, Trip and Carrie...graduated from Calvert Hall with a 3.1 GPA.
