On Lyght: Redshirt senior who is projected to start at a rush linebacker position ... anticipated for the same position a year ago before undergoing surgery for a torn ACL in his knee suffered during 1998 spring drills ... returned midway through the 1998 season to play seven games ... coaching staff moved him from drop linebacker to rush linebacker in order to take advantage of his speed and quickness off the edge ... remarkably cut athlete with great strength and speed for his size.

1998: As a junior, played in seven games after his return from injury ... 13 tackles and two tackles for loss ... season-high three tackles at North Carolina.

1997: Nine-game starter at linebacker as a sophomore, finishing sixth on the squad in total tackles (62) ... also had four tackles for losses, one fumble caused and one fumble recovery ... had season-high eight stops each in back-to-back games vs. Duke and West Virginia ... also had eight tackles vs. North Carolina State ... registered at least five tackles in eight of the Terps' 11 games.

1996: Special teams standout as a redshirt freshman ... totaled one tackle on the season.

High School: Graduated from Westfield High School in 1995 ... was an All-East selection by the National Recruiting Advisor and BlueChip Illustrated ... rated the 19th-best prospect in the East by Tom Lemming ... was a two-time all-county selection ... a two-way player who recorded 96 tackles and two interceptions on defense and rushed for 600 yards on 100 carries on offense as a senior ... was an all-state performer in track and field ... high school coach was Jim Benedict.
