On Calendine: Redshirt senior who begins his fourth season as a backup defensive end ... also practiced briefly at center during spring drills ... came to Maryland as a walk-on with a great work ethic who plays snap-to-whistle football.

1998: Saw action in four games with one tackle.

1997: Did not see any action as a sophomore.

1996: Appeared in five games and totaled three tackles and one pass deflection.

1995: Redshirt season.

High School: Graduated from Mendon High School in 1995 ... two-time all-county selection ... four-year letterwinner who earned team MVP honors and was the recipient of a sportsmanship award in 1995 ... was selected the most valuable defensive player in the Eddie Meath All-Star game ... high school coach was Bob Nagle.

Personal: Eric Scott Calendine ... born Oct. 24, 1976 ... son of Debbie and Roger Calendine ... majoring in criminology and criminal justice ... earned scholar-athlete honors in 1997 and 1998.
