COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Efficient offense led the second-ranked Maryland field hockey team to a 4-3 win over No. 4 Penn State Friday in the first top-five matchup in the Big Ten since 2002.

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Brooke Cabrera added a career-high ten saves on the day and the Terrapin's offense capitalized on its opportunities in the top-five matchup.

Maryland (10-2, 4-1 B1G) took the first lead when freshman Lein Holsboer buried in a shot from Anna Dessoye on the left side in the 10^th minute.

Four minutes later, Penn State (10-3, 2-2) was awarded a series of penalty corners. The Terrapins' corner defense unit notched stops on all but one was deflected in by the Nittany Lions' Jenna Chrismer to tie the game 14 minutes in.

Holsboer gave the Terrapins the lead back when she deflected in a shot by junior Sarah Sprink off a penalty corner with just under four minutes left in the first half. Maryland would take a 2-1 lead into the break.

Junior Alyssa Parker gave the Terps some breathing room when she got free of Penn State's goalkeeper and buried a wide open shot for a three-goal lead with 18 minutes to play. Less than two minutes later, the Terrapins were awarded a penalty stroke and Dessoye sent in a high shot and a 4-1 lead.

Penn State added its second goal when Taylor Herold scored off a penalty corner with three minutes to play.

Three Terrapins swept all three of the Big Ten Conference's weekly honors Tuesday. Katie Gerzabek won Offensive Player of the Week, Cabrera was named Defensive Player of the Week and Moira Putsch was named Freshman of the Week.

Next, the Terps will take on Penn (4-5) Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex and will host a pregame clinic from 9-11 a.m. Cost is $20 per participant. For more on the clinic, click here. Admission and parking are free for the Sunday's game.
