Steffen Named B1G Defensive Player of the Week

CHICAGO - Maryland sophomore goalkeeper Zack Steffen has been named Big Ten Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after posting shutouts in Maryland's 1-0 win over VCU and 4-0 victory over No. 3 Penn State last week.
Steffen tallied two saves in the Terrapins' win over VCU and recorded three saves against the Nittany Lions. It was the first time Penn State had been shut out in 2014.
It is Steffen's first career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award. Steffen boasts five shutouts this season and is limiting opponents to a mere 0.92 goals per game.
Maryland returns to action Wednesday when it plays host to Lehigh at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
