COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland announced Thursday that the Terps' Big Ten home opener against 20th-ranked Ohio State is sold out.
It is Maryland's first sell out since Nov. 22, 2008, when Maryland played Florida State in front of 51,620 fans marking the 22nd-largest crowd in the history of Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.
So far this season, Maryland's overall attendance is up 25 percent from a season ago. It is the largest overall increase among schools in one of the Power 5 conferences. In addition, season ticket sales are up 25 percent from a season ago as well.
The Terps are off to a 4-1 start following a 37-15 victory over Indiana in Bloomington last weekend in the Terps' first-ever Big Ten contest.
Kickoff for the Terps and Buckeyes is set for noon.
