Wrestling Releases 2014-15 Promotional Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The promotional schedule for the Maryland wrestling team's inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference was announced Wednesday. Match specific promotions and giveaways will occur at all nine of the Terrapins' home duals this season.
Maryland's five Big Ten home dates highlight the schedule. Maryland will take on Penn State (Dec. 11), Rutgers (Jan. 18), Ohio State (Jan. 25), Iowa (Feb. 6) and Minnesota (Feb. 8) at the XFINITY Center.
The first 500 fans in attendance against the Nittany Lions will receive a Maryland/Big Ten wristband in honor of the Terps' first conference contest. In addition, high school teams who RSVP beforehand will gain complementary admission to the match.
Maryland's date with the Scarlet Knights will be the annual Pin Cancer match. The event will feature a silent auction and bid sheets for fans to bid on wrestlers to help raise money for Pin Cancer.
The Terps' showdown with Ohio State is the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Match. All Maryland faculty and staff can receive complementary admission for themselves and two guests.
Iowa will come to College Park for the “Maryland Pride” match. All Maryland fans are encouraged to wear red, white, black and gold to celebrate Maryland pride. It is also Greek Philanthropy Night. The Greek organization with the highest percentage of its membership at the match will receive a donation to its philanthropy on behalf of the Maryland wrestling team.
The Terps' Senior Day showdown with Minnesota is Fan Appreciation Day. In celebration of Maryland wrestling supporters, all fans in attendance will be eligible for in-match raffles and giveaways.
The calendar kicks off with the Terrapin Duals on Nov 2. The Terps will play host to Alderson-Broaddus, Davidson, Johns Hopkins and Kutztown. Local youth teams who RSVP with an official roster beforehand will receive complementary admission to the duals in honor of Youth Team Day.
A Nov. 9 showdown with George Mason will be Camp Reunion Day. Any Maryland wrestling camp attendees have access to an exclusive voucher for admission to the match. In addition, members of the wrestling team will hold an autograph session immediately following the event.
The wrestling team will join forces with the Maryland gymnastics team for a “Beauty and the Beast” event on Jan 9. The simultaneous action will see wrestling take on Harvard, while gymnastics competes against West Virginia and George Washington on the XFINITY Center main floor. The two squads will hold a joint autograph session following competition.
The Terps' final nonconference duals against Navy and Lehigh on Jan. 11 will serve as the Military Appreciation Day. All past and present military personnel will be granted free admission with the presentation of a military ID. In addition, Maryland wrestling alumni at the match will be honored during intermission as part of alumni weekend.
