COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland Chapter of Uplifting Athletes has parternered with the Maryland football team to help raise money to fight cystic fibrosis through a touchdown pledge drive.
For each touchdown scored in Maryland's home date against Rutgers on November 29, the Terps and the Maryland Chapter of Uplifing Athletes will make donation to help support cystic fibrosis research.
Fans can support the drive by making a donation through the Touchdown Pledge Drive site: pldgit.com/maryland.
The Maryland Chapter chose cystic fibrosis in support of former Terrapins quarterback Boomer Esiason, who has a son affected by the disease. Earlier this year, the Maryland Chapter raised $12,412 for cystic fibrosis research during its Lift For Life event.
Uplifting Athletes is a national non-profit organization aligning college football with rare diseases and raising them as a national priority through outreach, research, education and advocacy.
Each of the 25 student-athlete led chapters nationwide raises research funds and brings awareness to their chosen rare disease through a Lift For Life fundraiser.
