Beanlands Named To Academic All-District Squad

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland women's soccer student-athlete Rachelle Beanlands has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their performance both on the field and in the classroom.

The All-District teams, which are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States of America.

Beanlands is the lone goalkeeper named to the District 2 team, which is composed of student-athletes from Division I colleges and universities in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The junior from Ottawa, Ontario, carries a 3.90 GPA while pursuing a dual degree in Physiology/Neurobiology and Environmental Sciences. She started all 18 matches for the Terps in 2014 and had boasted career-bests with a 0.87 goals-against average and six shutouts.

All players who receive Academic All-District Honors become eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America team, which will be announced in November.
