ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference has selected University of Maryland kicker Brad Craddock as the 2014 recipient of the Bakken-Andersen Kicker of the Year, the league announced Monday.
A Lou Groza finalist, Craddock leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage having hit 94.7 percent of his attempts this season (18-for-19), a Maryland single-season record.
“Brad is very deserving of this honor,” said Edsall. “It would be tough to find someone who is as dedicated as Brad, and it is good to see his hard work is paying off. I have said it many times and I truly believe that Brad is the best kicker in the country.”
This season, Craddock converted his first 18 field goal attempts and dating back to last season hit 24 consecutive attempts to tie former Ohio State kicker Mike Nugent for the Big Ten record. Of his 18 successful field goal attempts, 11 have come from 40-plus yards.
In addition, Craddock has converted two attempts from 50 or more yards this season including a school-record 57 yarder against Ohio State (Oct. 4). It is the second-longest field in the conference this season.
The Adelaide, Australia, native was also named a first-team All-Big Ten selection by both the conference coaches and media on Monday.
