The buzz around practice concerned a couple of position changes head coach Randy Edsall announced Monday morning. Sophomore Jacquille Veii is one of the Terps making a switch. The Gaithersburg, Md., native will be moving to the slot and competing at receiver.
Despite his limited experience at the position in high school, Veii appeared comfortable early hauling in several passes including a deep route over the middle midway through practice.
"I was excited, I was ecstatic,” said Veii about learning about his move to wide receiver. “I was just ready to come to work. I knew it was going to be challenge so I just came ready to work. I'm always going to have a competitive spirit, a competitive mind. That's just how I am. Now, I got to switch my mindset to another position and compete there as well.”
Veii looked comfortable running routes Monday night, but admitted he needs to fine tune his technique.
"I am just trying to work, clean up my technique and mold my clay at receiver right now. I played slot in high school, but I didn't run routes like I do here.”
Edsall also announced that freshman Damian Prince will be moving to guard.
