Solomon Eye Terp of the Week: Geoffrey Alexander

Each week during the 2014-15 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is redshirt junior Geoffrey Alexander of the wrestling team.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Entering his match against returning All-American No. 9 Mason Beckman of Lehigh, redshirt junior Geoffrey Alexander had fallen just short in previous matches against top rated opponents.
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native flipped the script Sunday, defeating Beckman in dramatic fashion 2-1 to cap off his 3-0 weekend. For his efforts, Alexander has been named Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week.
Down 1-0 and facing Beckman's riding time advantage late in the third period, Alexander was able to reverse his opponent from the bottom to gain a 2-1 advantage. The 133-pounder was able to ride out Beckman for the remainder of the period to eliminate the ride time point and take the match.
Alexander also gained two dominant victories over the weekend, stopping Ryan Osleeb of Harvard with a 15-0 technical fall and defeating Navy's Zack Davis 12-2.
Watch Alexander in action this Sunday when the Maryland wrestling team takes on No. 22 Rutgers at noon at the XFINITY Center Pavilion.
