LANCASTER, Pa. – University of Maryland freshman Alfred Bannister continued his strong debut campaign Saturday, capturing the F&M Open championship at 141 pounds.
Bannister went 5-0 en route to the title, his second open tournament crown of the season.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Bannister knocked off Dylan Nace of East Stroudsburg, 11-5, in his opening contest. The Maryland native then got past American's Casey Paglia to reach the quarterfinals.
In the quarters, Bannister took out Bobby Rehm of Lock Haven, 5-2, to notch a berth in the semifinals where he would defeat Millersville's Thomas Nulty by fall at 1:46.
Bannister captured the championship with a 6-2 victory over Bloomburg's Max Good.
