
Terps Set For Firestone Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland men's golf team will play in the Firestone Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
The 54-hole event is scheduled to begin on Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start and continuous play for 36 holes. Tuesday's final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with split tee times on holes 1 & 10. The tournament will be played on the North Course at the Firestone Country Club, which is a par-72 that covers 7,125 yards.
The 16-team field includes: tournament-host Akron, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Georgetown, Illinois State, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Carolina-Aiken, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, and Xavier — Oklahoma State (two individuals).

Senior Tom Harris was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week last Wednesday, after he won the Janney VCU Shootout. Harris finished 10 under par in the 54-hole event to seal the win. Harris shot a career-best six-under par 66 in the first round Monday, then added a 69 in the second round. He shot a 71 in the third round to finish with a combined score of 206 (66-69-71).
Sophomore David Kocher finished tied for second in the 83-player field with his combined score of 211 (71-72-68).
