COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Big Ten champion Maryland women's basketball team held their first official practice of the 2015-16 season Monday afternoon at XFINITY Center.
While new NCAA rules allowed the Terrapins limited practice over the summer, Monday's afternoon session was the Terps' first full practice before the season.
Maryland went 18-0 in Big Ten play in its first year in the league last year. Head coach Brenda Frese was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time in her career, while juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough both earned All-Big Ten First Team honors. The Terrapins beat Ohio State, 77-74, in the Big Ten Championship game to sweep the regular season and tournament titles.
Top-seeded Maryland went on to knock off undefeated Princeton in the NCAA Second Round. The Terrapins advanced to the Spokane Regional, where they beat Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, then second-seeded Tennessee in the Elite Eight to head to the Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
