COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland cross country team will head to Princeton for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Friday. The 6k race will begin at noon at the West Windsor Fields.
Maryland enters Friday's race after an improved performance at the Big Ten Championships that saw the squad gain four places to 11th from its 2014 showing. Sophomore Alexandra Lucki led the way with a time of 21:33 over 6k to finish 56th. Junior Sydney Almeida and senior Emily VandeWater followed close behind.

Almeida and VandeWater have stood out as Maryland's top performers behind Lucki. Almeida placed 68th in a time of 21:45 at the Big Ten Championships and was the Terps' top finisher at the Salty Dog Invitational. VandeWater notched a 78th-place finish at Big Ten's in 22:03.
The trio will be joined senior experience in Catherine Sheffo and Katie Nappi. Nappi had strong showings in Gettysburg and the Paul Short Invitational while Sheffo has given the Terps' solid performances this season.
Junior Alexa Squirini, who was the Terps' best placer at the Mount St. Mary's Duals, will also compete along with fellow junior Karah O'Halloran. Top freshman Kiernan Keller rounds out the lineup for Maryland.
