
Jones, Walker-Kimbrough Named to Wooden List

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the sixth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team were named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 30 list Tuesday.
The list is comprised of 30 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for college basketball's most prestigious honor. The list is chosen by a preseason poll of national women's college basketball media members. Click here for the full Preseason Top 30.
Both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough earned All-Big Ten Team honors last season. Walker- Kimbrough was named to the First Team by both the coaches and the media panel. She averaged 13.3 points per game and led all Big Ten guards in field goal percentage (.513).
Jones was named to the media panel's Second Team and the coaches' First Team. She picked up 14 doubles-doubles last season, while averaging 12.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were also selected to play for USA Basketball over the summer. Jones won gold with the World University Games team in Gwangju, South Korea. Walker-Kimbrough and the Pan American team took silver in Toronto.
Maryland (1-0) will host High Point (1-0) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Former Terrapin and 2006 NCAA Champion Laura Harper is in her second season as an assistant for the Panthers.
The Terps will host a Teddy Bear Toss at halftime of Wednesday night's game. Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to toss onto the court for the chance to win prizes. All donations will benefit College Park Youth & Family Services supporting local families in need.
