
Frese Visits ESPN for WBB Media Day

BRISTOL, Conn. - Head coach Brenda Frese of the Final Four Maryland women's basketball team visited ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. Tuesday for the NCAA's first-ever women's basketball media day event.
The other three 2015 Final Four head coaches – Geno Auriemma (UConn), Muffet McGraw (Notre Dame) and Dawn Staley (South Carolina) and a handful of student-athletes joined the event as well. Representatives from several conferences and the NCAA were on hand, as well national and regional media outlets.

She visited ESPN's College Basketball set to chat with Doris Burke on the Terrapins' upcoming season, rules changes and more.

The Terrapins are ranked No 6 in the USA Today Sports Preseason Top 25 Coaches poll, released Oct. 29.
After winning the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles last year, the Terrapins were selected to win the Big Ten once again. Junior All-Big Ten honorees Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough were voted to the Preseason All-Big Ten Teams by the coaches and media as well.
Maryland went 18-0 in Big Ten play in its first year in the league last year. Frese was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time in her career. The Terrapins beat Ohio State, 77-74, in the Big Ten Championship game to sweep the regular season and tournament titles.
Top-seeded Maryland went on to knock off undefeated Princeton in the NCAA Second Round. The Terrapins advanced to the Spokane Regional, where they beat Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, then second-seeded Tennessee in the Elite Eight to head to the Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
Maryland will host Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wednesday at 7 p.m. in its final free exhibition match before the start of regular season. Parking will be free and open after 4 p.m.

The exhibition matchup will be streamed live on the BTN2Go app, which is the official app of the Big Ten Network. It will be a BTN Plus production and will require an additional subscription. Maryland dominated Goldey-Beacom College, 127-33, Saturday in its first exhibition matchup of the season.
Freshman Kiah Gillespie led seven Terps in double figures with 22 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two assists. Sophomore Kiara Leslie added 18 points, Brene Moseleyhad 17, while Jones, Walker-Kimbrough, Kristen Confroy and freshman Brianna Fraser all hit double figures as well.
Maryland will officially open the season on Saturday, Nov. 14 vs. UMass-Lowell at 2 p.m. in College Park. Click here for the Terrapins' schedule.
