Box Score

COLLEGE PARK, Md. –  The fifth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team routed Loyola, 97-47, Tuesday night at XFINITY Center. Junior Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led four Terrapins in double figures with 21 points as Maryland (9-0) won its 27th straight home game.

Fifth-year senior Brene Moseley scored 15 points and freshman Brianna Fraser had 11 for Maryland, which shot 36 of 68 (52.9 percent) from the field. Sophomore Kristen Confroy finished with 10 points.

The Terrapins sent the Greyhounds (3-6) to the free throw line just once, and committed a season-low eight turnovers.

“We had a lot of fun tonight,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “This was by far one of our most complete 40 minute games. There are a lot that we were focusing on and we did a tremendous job. I'm really proud of our season low for turnovers, getting to the glass on both ends of the floor, and defending. So I'm just really proud of the overall consistency in this game.”

Diana Logan went 5 of 7 from 3-point range and had 19 points for Loyola. The Greyhounds' reserves were outscored 52-24 by their counterparts with Maryland.

Colleen Marshall and Logan hit back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second quarter and get the Greyhounds within four. The Terrapins then overwhelmed Loyola with their size and speed, pulling away with a 26-6 run capped by Moseley's layup.

The Terps got points from nine players, including 14 from Walker-Kimbrough, and led 50-24 at the break. Maryland scored 16 points off 11 turnovers by Loyola.

A layup by junior Brionna Jones gave Maryland its first 20-point lead at 57-27 with 5:56 left in the third quarter. The Terrapins continued to wear down the Greyhounds. Another layup by Moseley provided a 71-37 lead.

Loyola tried to slow Maryland down with a 2/3 zone, but nothing worked. A layup by Kiah Gillespie extended the margin to 90-44 with 5:01 left.

Walker-Kimbrough was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday. This is her third career weekly honor and first this season. She averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals on the week.

Walker-Kimbrough and ones are both closing in on 1,000 career points. Walker-Kimbrough currently has 986 points and Jones has 830. Moseley is nearing the 300 career assist mark. She currently has notched 292 career assists.
