Jones, Walker-Kimbrough Named to Naismith List

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the fifth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team were among the top 50 players in the nation who were named to the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List Wednesday.
The duo leads the Terrapins (9-0) in scoring and rebounding. Jones is Maryland's leader on the glass with 8.4 boards per game, while scoring 14.7 points per game. Walker-Kimbrough is averaging 18.7 points per contest with 6.2 boards. Both were also Preseason All-Big Ten selections this fall.

Walker-Kimbrough was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday. This is her third career weekly honor and first this season. She averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals on the week.
Walker-Kimbrough and Jones are both closing in on 1,000 career points. Walker-Kimbrough currently has 986 points and Jones has 830. Fifth-year senior Brene Moseley is nearing the 300 career assist mark. She currently has notched 292 career assists.
Next, the Terrapins will host Southern (2-4) Friday at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. The Terps will be signing autographs after Friday's game and Santa Testudo will be available for pictures before the game. For tickets to Friday's matchup, click here.
The Terps will be hosting a Toys for Tots drive at Friday's contest. Fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys to donate to help underprivileged youth in the area and help the Terps beat Penn State in a friendly charitable competition.
