COLLEGE PARK, Md.  –  Lexie Brown scored a season-high 26 points and Brionna Jones added a second half double-double to help No. 5 Maryland extend its winning streak to 13 games with a 93-88 victory over No. 20 Iowa on Sunday in College Park.

The Terrapins (19-2, 10-0) moved two games ahead of the second-place Hawkeyes in the Big Ten standings. Jones scored 19 points with 15 rebounds, including 17 and 10 in the second half. The sophomore has eight double-doubles this year, seven in conference play. Laurin Mincy added 15.

"Obviously, this was a tremendous game because it was between two of the best teams in the league right now," head coach Brenda Frese said. "It was back and forth, no one deserved to lose this game. We started a little slow, so we had keep our poise and composure to get us going; we did that because we were only down by one at the half. We made a conscious effort to get the ball into Brionna Jones in the second half; she was sensational and our guards were phenomenal getting the ball down low to her. There were so many contributions when you talk about Kiara Leslie off the bench, the run we made with a season high of 26 from Lexie 'Big Shot' Brown. This was just a really solid win."

Ally Disterhoft scored 22 points for Iowa (17-4, 8-2), and Melissa Dixon had 18 points.

Maryland played tight perimeter defense to defend against Iowa's 3-point shooters. The Hawkeyes, who lead the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage at 40 percent, made 8 of 15 shots from beyond the arc.

The Terrapins trailed at the half, 45-44, for the first time this season against a conference opponent. However, Maryland began to pound the ball inside to Jones, who responded with 12 straight points to give the Terps a 56-54 lead 13:53 remaining.

The Hawkeyes then went on an 8-0 run and led 62-56 with just over 12 minutes left. Maryland retook the lead at 72-70 on Brene Moseley's layup and free throw with 7:45 remaining.

The teams then traded baskets before Brown's 3-pointer and Mincy's free throw capped a 13-2 run and extended the Terrapins' margin to six at 78-72 with 6:19 left.

A steal by Jones set up a free throw by Brown and Maryland led 86-82 with just over a minute remaining. Brown then sealed it with a layup and pair of free throws in the final 38 seconds.

Samantha Logic added 17 points for Iowa, and Bethany Doolittle had 16.

At 10-0 in Big Ten play, the Terps are off to their best conference start since the 1991-92 season.

Maryland is ranked No. 5 in this week's Associated Press poll - the Terrapins' highest AP ranking since March 12, 2012. Under Brenda Frese, Maryland has spent 53 weeks in the AP top five.

The Terps are 54-29 (.651) all-time against their 2014-15 Big Ten opponents. Maryland has won 19 straight games against Big Ten teams, dating back to 2007. In the 13 years under Frese, the Terps are 22-4 (.846) against their new conference opponents. Frese is 34-10 (.773) all-time vs. Big Ten opponents, which includes her time at Minnesota (2001-02) and at Ball State (1999-01).
