GymTerps To Honor Seniors In Final Home Meet Of Season

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—After winning five straight meets and 10 of its last 11, the Maryland gymnastics team returns to the XFINITY Center on Sunday at 2 p.m. for its final home meet of the 2015 campaign.
The GymTerps (11-5-1, 3-3 Big Ten) will host William & Mary, Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut as they honor six seniors for the annual 'Senior Day.' Katy Dodds, Stephanie Giameo, Dani Kram, Shannon Skochko, Karen Tang and Ebony Walters will be honored in a post-meet ceremony. Student assistant Nicole Wright will be recognized as well.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Terps tallied a season-high team total (195.525) in a tri-meet victory over Texas Woman's University and Brown. The GymTerps captured a share of the individual title on all four apparatuses.
- Stephanie Giameo (9.900) tallied a season-high to take the beam crown. Karen Tang (9.900) won the bars title. Giameo and Kathy Tang (9.800) shared a part of the floor title, while Abbie Epperson (9.850) shared the vault crown with Madison Nettles of TWU.
MEET THE SENIORS
- A Gaithersburg, Md. native, Dodds currently holds the program record on vault (9.975) and is one of the most prolific gymnasts in Maryland history. In 2013, Dodds ranked eighth in the nation on vault and 20th on floor. She was named to the regular-season first-team NACGC/W All-America team on vault.
- A native of Roselle Park, N.J., Giameo currently holds a share of the program record on beam (9.950) and is currently ranked nationally on the event. In 2013, Giameo was ranked eighth in the nation on beam and named to the regular-season first-team NACGC/W All-America team on beam.
- Kram tallied a career-high on beam (9.800) this season at West Virginia (2/22). The Potomac, Md. native is currently the president of the Maryland Student Athlete Advisory Committee and plays an integral part of planning and executing events like 'Terps Got Talent.'
- Skochko, a Perkiomenville, Pa. native, tallied a career-high on vault (9.850) against Iowa and has competed on vault, beam and floor for the Terps. Skochko was most recently given NACGC/W Scholastic All-America team honors.
- Tang most recently tied a school record and set a personal-best on bars with a 9.925 against Minnesota (1/15) and at TWU (3/1). The Agawam, Mass. native tallied a 9.900 on floor and vault against New Hampshire in 2014.
- A Silver Spring, Md. native, Walters has competed on floor this season. She recorded a season-high score on floor (9.875) against Minnesota. In 2013, she tallied a career-high score of 9.900 against Rutgers and West Virginia and a tied for the fifth-best score in program history on beam with a 9.925 at George Washington.
THE OPPONENTS
- Last time out, William & Mary tallied a 192.975 in a second-lace finish against Cornell and Bridge port. Brittany Stover was selected as the ECAC Gymnast of the Week. Tomorrow's match-up marks the 38th all-time meeting between the two programs. Maryland holds a 28-9 series advantage.
- Bridgeport racked up a team score of 193.750 in a first-place finish over Cornell and William & Mary in its last meet. Tomorrow's match-up marks the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs. Maryland holds an 7-1 series advantage.
- In their last meet, Southern Connecticut tallied a 189.850 in a second-place finish against West Chester and Ursinus. Tomorrow's match-up marks the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs. Mary holds a 4-0 series advantage.
NELLIGAN REACHES 100 CAREER WINS
- With the GymTerps two victories over Texas Woman's University and Brown, head coach Brett Nelligan reached 100 career wins at the help of the GymTerps. Nelligan has led the team to the NCAA regionals every season as head coach.
VAULTING TO THE TOP
- The GymTerps rank 20th nationally and fifth in the Big Ten on vault. The team recorded a season-high team score of 49.150 vs. Iowa (1/30) and at TWU (3/1). Katy Dodds recorded a season-high event score of 9.875 on vault at Rutgers (2/14).
BEAM ME UP, STEPHY
- Giameo currently ranks 23rd nationally and fifth in the Big Ten on beam. She tallied a season-high score of 9.900 at TWU (3/1).
TANG TIES SCHOOL RECORD….AGAIN
- Karen Tang tied a school record on bars (9.925) at WVU (2/22). She previously tallied that score vs. Minnesota (1/15). The record marks a new personal record for Tang.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Terps will head to Lincoln, Neb. for the Big Five meet against four other Big Ten teams. Maryland will face Nebraska, Ohio State, Illinois, and Michigan State.
