COLLEGE PARK, Md.— A total of 42 representatives from 30 NFL teams gathered at the Gossett Team House on Thursday, as a contingent of Maryland football players showcased their skills at the program's annual Pro Day.
This season, 13 players partook in hopes of impressing scouts and coaches prior to the NFL Draft. Defensive lineman Keith Bowers, offensive lineman Sal Conaboy, outside linebacker Yannki Cudjoe-Virgil, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, linebacker Cole Farrand, linebacker L.A. Goree, defensive back Jeremiah Johnson, defensive lineman Darius Kilgo, wide receiver Deon Long, defensive lineman Andre Monore, defensive lineman Spencer Myers, outside linebacker Matt Robinson and outside linebacker Alex Twine were amongst the participants.
“It was a great day,” Diggs said at the conclusion of his workout. “It's great to be surrounded by my teammates. My hard work is paying off and it's nice to finally be able to do everything I've been training for.”
Head coach Randy Edsall amongst many additional current players and staff showed up in droves to encourage and support their teammates. Edsall praised the participants, pointing to their individual work ethic and preparation as a major part of their success.
“If you are prepared, you'll be relaxed. These drills are something that they've done before,” Edsall said. “The guys didn't look nervous, they looked prepared. You always hope that the way we run and construct our program, days like this are just second nature to them.”
Scouts, coaches and media were invited to watch the players participate in strength, speed, agility and skill drills both in the weight room and on the field.
Players will now have the opportunity to attend local team's pro days as well as meet with teams on an individual basis. Earlier this year, Diggs, Long and Cudjoe-Virgil traveled to Indianapolis to participate in the NFL Combine.
