LaFond Earns B1G Field Athlete of the Week Honor

ROSEMONT, Ill. - After a standout performance at the Pepsi Florida Relays, Maryland senior Thea LaFond earned Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week Honors, the conference announced Wednesday.
LaFond finished second in the high jump at the Pepsi Florda Relays. Her jump of 1.85 is currently the fifth-best mark in the nation. The senior was also a member of the shuttle hurdle relay team that finished fourth in a school record time of 55.85 seconds.
The Silver Spring, Md. native's honor is Maryland first-ever Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field award. LaFond had previously picked up a Big Ten indoor honor.
