
Incoming Terp Gillespie Named Parade All-American

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Incoming freshman forward Kiah (KY-ah) Gillespie of the Maryland women's basketball team was named a Parade All-American recently, which adds to her list of awards and accolades.
Gillespie, a 6-1 forward from Meriden, Conn., was named Connecticut's Gatorade player of the year, averaged 31.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.7 steals and 2.5 blocked shots to lead Capital Prep to its third straight CIAC Class L title.
She was named the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT All-State State Player of the Year and was honored with a second-team section to USA Today's All-USA Girls Basketball team.
Gillespie was also named to USA Basketball's Under-19 squad that will compete in Russia this summer.
Gillespie was ranked No. 14 by Prospects Nation and No. 27 by ESPN's Hoop Gurlz. She and Brianna Fraser (Brooklyn, N.Y.) make up the No. 10 class in the country and the 10th top 10 class in head coach Brenda Frese's 13 seasons. Fraser, a 6-3 forward, is the No. 12 overall player by the All Star Girls Report and is the No. 15 overall recruit in the class by ESPN's Hoop Gurlz. Both were named 2015 McDonald's All-American Teams.
