BALTIMORE - Omar Gonzalez, a former Maryland standout and key component of the 2008 national championship squad, notched his first career goal as a member of the United States Men's National Team in a 6-0 rout of Cuba in Gold Cup action at M&T Stadium in Baltimore on Saturday.
Gonzalez, a perennial all-star for the LA Galaxy, slotted a header from Aron Johannsson with his right foot to give the USMNT a 4-0 lead just before halftime in his return to the state of Maryland. He joined former Terps Graham Zusi, a midfielder for the USMNT, and Russell Payne, goalkeeper coach, for the homecoming.
