
#13 Terps Play St. John's in Sunday Matinee

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After playing to a scoreless draw against No. 4 Notre Dame Friday, the No. 13-ranked Maryland men's soccer team returns to the pitch Sunday for an 11:30 a.m. match versus St. John's in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.

• Maryland picked up its first shutout of the year against Notre Dame on Friday in a rematch of the 2013 national championship game. It was the Terps' first shutout to begin a season since the 2012 campaign when they advanced to the College Cup semifinals.
• Following Sunday's matinee, the Terps return to College Park for the highly-anticipated home opener against UCLA on Friday at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
League Supremacy
• Maryland has won three consecutive regular season and tournament championships heading into the 2015 campaign.
• Mael Corboz scored on a top-shelf, free kick from 25 yards to give the University of Maryland its first-ever Big Ten Tournament championship with a 2-1 victory against Indiana at Ludwig Field.
• The Terps won their third-straight conference title on Maryland soil after capturing the 2012 and 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference tournament crowns in Germantown.
No. 13 Terps, No. 4 Irish play to scoreless draw
• In a rematch of the 2013 national championship game, the No. 13-ranked Maryland men's soccer program played to a scoreless draw with No. 4 Notre Dame in the opening game of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic on Friday evening.
• Maryland (0-0-1) started five new players, including freshmen Sebastian Elney, Eryk Williamson, Diego Silva, and Amar Sejdic. A total of eight rookies made their Terrapin debuts Friday.
• Cody Niedermeier, who notched his first start as a Terp after sustaining two season-ending injuries in three years at Maryland, racked up three saves en route to his first career shutout.
• Maryland outshot Notre Dame by a decisive 7-1 mark in the first 45 minutes. The Terps held a 22-10 advantage in the category for the match but managed only four shots on goal.

Three Terps Tabbed Big Ten Players to Watch
• Seniors Mael Corboz and Tsubasa Endoh and junior Chris Odoi-Atsem were tabbed to the Big Ten Players to Watch list.
• Corboz, a senior midfielder, was named the Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Offensive Player after guiding the Terps to their first-ever Big Ten tournament crown. Corboz was also a First Team All-Big Ten pick after leading the league in goals scored (10).
• Endoh, despite an injury-shortened season, started in all 16 games he appeared in after being named a Big Ten Conference Player to Watch in 2014. The midfielder tallied one goal against then-No. 3 Penn State and Hartwick and added a pair of assists.
• Odoi-Atsem was a First Team All-Big Ten selection as a sophomore last season after starting in 21 games and helping the defense secure nine shutouts.
Meet the new guys
• The Terps have 13 newcomers on this year's roster, including 11 freshmen. Rookies Connor Smith, Sebastian Elney, Amar Sejdic, DJ Reeves, Andrew Samuels, Jorge Calix, Eryk Williamson, Paul Bin, Aaron Franco, Diego Silva, and Dayne St. Clair join St. John's transfer Cody Albrecht and Eastern Florida JUCO standout Ivan Magalhaes on this year's squad.

• St. John's dropped its season opener 1-0 to Indiana on Friday night in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.
• The Red Storm was picked to finish sixth in the Big East Conference. St. John's returns 15 players from last season's roster, including nine letterwinners. Defender Jean Leveille and goalkeeper Jordan Stagmiller started all 18 games a season ago and lead a group of six returners that started at least five contests.
• Maryland is 6-3 against St. John's all-time, including a thrilling overtime victory against the Red Storm in the semifinals of the 2008 College Cup. Current MLS All-Star Graham Zusi notched the game-winner with one of the most iconic goals in Maryland soccer history to lift the Terps to a 1-0 victory. Maryland defeated North Carolina in the title game to win the program's third national championship.
