SAAC Hosts Annual Welcome Back BBQ

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After completing the first day of the fall 2015 semester, the University of Maryland Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted a Welcome Back Barbeque for all student-athletes Monday.
Students from all 20 athletic teams gathered at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium to kick off the 2015 year. University president Dr. Wallace Loh, NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Nick Hadley and SAAC president Amy Dion (volleyball) addressed student-athletes and Maryland Athletics staff about the importance of athletics and academics.
Alongside a barbecue dinner, student-athletes also had the opportunity to play carnival games, including a dunk tank with coaches and staff members.
For the second consecutive year, ShopRite donated dinner for the event (hamburgers, hot dogs and salad). Additionally, Sardi's Maggiano's and Rita's Italian Ice also provided dinner and dessert for the barbeque.
Maryland Athletics sincerely appreciates the generous donations from ShopRite, Maggiano's, Sardi's and Rita's.
