
Record Six Terps Selected in MLL Draft

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A Major League Lacrosse record six Maryland men's lacrosse players were selected in the first 19 picks of the 2015 Major League Lacrosse Draft Friday in Baltimore, Md. Six selections is also a Maryland record for the entire draft, besting five selections in 2013 and 2011.
Defender Matt Dunn led the way as the seventh overall pick by the Rochester Rattlers, before goalie Kyle Bernlohr (11th – Ohio), midfielder Henry West (12th – Florida) and midfielder Pat Young (13th – Charlotte) went back-to-back-to-back in the second round. Midfielder Bryan Cole (16th – Ohio) was also taken in the second round, before defender Greg Danseglio (19th – Atlanta) was taken with the first pick of the third round.
Dunn became the ninth Maryland player to be taken in the first round, joining Lee Zink (2004, 5th), Chris Passavia (2004, 6th), Joe Walters (2006, 1st), Bill McGlone (2006, 5th), Ray Megill (2007, 9th), Joe Cinosky (2008, 9th), Jesse Bernhardt (2013, 4th) and Michael Ehrhardt (2014, 7th).
A 2015 USILA All-America selection, Dunn has appeared in 46 games (33 starts) for the Terps over the last three seasons. The defender helped anchor the top-ranked defense in the country in 2015, collecting 13 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers.
Bernlohr burst onto the national scene in his first season as starting goalkeeper for the Terps in 2015, winning the Kelly Award for the nation's most outstanding goalkeeper and being named a USILA First Team All-American. Bernlohr won a Maryland-record 15 games in net, and led the country in goals against average (6.95).
West has been a key piece to the Maryland midfield corps, scoring a career-high 20 goals as a junior. The Darien, Conn., native has posted 16 multi-point games in his career, including scoring a pair of goals in the NCAA semifinals in 2015.
Young had a prolific career at UMBC before transferring to Maryland prior to the 2015 season, scoring 85 goals and adding 25 assists as a Retriever. A 2016 preseason all-america selection, Young has twice been a All-America East team honoree.
A preseason all-america selection, Cole emerged as one of the top offensive players in the country down the stretch of the 2015 season, totaling 20 points over the last six games. The Canadian led the Terps with 22 assists last season, and had a memorable five-point game in the NCAA Quarterfinals against North Carolina.
Danseglio played 45 games for Virginia before transferring to Maryland after the 2014 season and redshirting last year. The Islip Terrace, N.Y., native has picked up 96 ground balls and caused 23 turnovers over the course of his career.
