Solomon Eye Terp of the Week: Welma Luus

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2016-17 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Welma Luus of the field hockey team.
Senior Welma Luus and the Terrapins knocked off No. 1 Connecticut and dealt the Huskies their first loss of the season Sunday with a 2-1 decision in College Park. UConn scored five minutes in for the early lead, then Maryland's Grace Balsdon tied the match in the 23rd minute.
With just over four minutes left in the half, Luus gave the Terps a 2-1 lead when she scored off her own rebounded shot. She cracked a shot from the right side that hit the post, then collected the rebound and banged it in for the goal.
