Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week: Alfred Bannister

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2016-17 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is redshirt sophomore Alfred Bannister of the Maryland wrestling team.
In his career debut at 149 pounds, Bannister went 5-0 last weekend at the Southeast Open in Roanoke, Va. to win an individual title. He posted two pins, a major decision and two decisions to finish the day unbeaten.
Bannister's marque win of the day would come in the semifinals, as he defeated No. 17 Michael Pongracz of Chattanooga 7-6. He followed it up with a sudden victory decision (6-4) in the 149-pound open final to claim the bracket. For his efforts, Bannister was ranked 17th in the country in his weight class this week via Intermat Wrestling.
