Postgame Quotes: Maryland 100, UMass-Lowell 44

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Postgame quotes following Maryland 100-44 win over UMass-Lowell.

Head Coach Brenda Frese

Opening Statement:
“That was a good game for us to kind of get the jitters out. We've been really ready to go since Friday. I thought obviously there are many things we can improve on, but I liked that we were able to go in and be really aggressive early and use our speed and our size. We definitely want to keep building and keep getting better in terms of what we're doing.”

On the performance of the freshmen today:
“I thought that at times they showed some nerves, but that overall they showed that they belonged and I think that's the biggest thing. They're going to help us in so many areas. They're so talented. They're really competitive.”

On the style of how the team wants to play:
“We have a lot more speed this year and depth. We definitely want to be able to change up and give a lot of different looks on the defensive end. We think that'll really help us in terms of being able to mix that up depending on the opponent that we're playing.”

On the future play time of the bench players:
“Obviously our anchor, and our team knows this, is with Shatori [Walker-Kimbrough]and Bri [Jones]. They are going to play more than twenty-five minutes a game. I think these games are for being able to spread some of those minutes and understand what that rotation is going to look like and see how they respond. We saw some things tonight that did or did not respond and I think it just helps you as you're moving forward in the game.”

Destiny Slocum, Freshman, Guard

On if she was nervous for this game:
“No I wouldn't say nervous, just kind of pumped to get ready, maybe had too much excitement to begin with. In the end felt normal and comfortable.”
