Niedermeier Named NSCAA Scholar All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior goalkeeper Cody Niedermeier has been named an NSCAA Second Team Scholar All-American, announced Thursday.
Niedermeier, who boasts a 3.384 while majoring in marketing, is set to graduate in just a few days.
The 2016 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year, Niedermeier was also a first team All-Big Ten pick. The Arnold, Md., native was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team after leading Maryland to a fifth-straight conference tournament title. He helped Maryland match a school-record five consecutive shutouts and was a two-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.
Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at these levels meet the following criteria:
- 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
- Start more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
- Nominated by head coach of current NSCAA College Services member institution
- Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school
Players on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on January 14, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in conjunction with the 2017 NSCAA Convention.
