Box Score COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 23, Brionna Jones had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 5 Maryland beat Purdue 73-59 on Thursday night for a season sweep.
Coming off a 94-86 loss at Ohio State, the Terrapins (22-3, 11-2 Big Ten) never trailed in defeating the Boilermakers for the second time in nine days.
The Terrapins built a 46-33 lead in the third quarter and never let the margin shrink below seven points in winning for the 10th time in 11 games.
After committing 23 turnovers at Ohio State, Maryland was guilty of 20. But that was offset by a 45-35 advantage on the boards and an 18 for 21 performance on the foul line.
Jones had nine points and eight rebounds in the first half to stake the Terrapins to a 35-27 lead.
Seven minutes into the game, the Boilermakers trailed 13-5 after going 2 for 11 from the floor and getting outrebounded 14-4.
It was 21-13 before Ashley Morrissette sandwiched a layup and 3-pointer around a drive by Wilson to get Purdue within a point.
Jones and freshman Brianna Fraser then combined for all Maryland's points in an 11-2 run that made it 32-22.
Purdue closed to 37-31 early in the second half before Walker-Kimbrough made a layup and teammate Kristen Confroy buried a 3-pointer to spark a 9-2 spree that put the Terrapins up by 13.
Maryland notched a season-high 10 blocks against the Boilermakers.
The Terrapins haven't lost two straight since Nov. 29 and Dec. 3, 2014. Maryland improved to 7-1 against Purdue with its fifth straight win in the series.
Earlier this week, juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough were named to the Naismith Midseason List. Redshirt senior Brene Moseley was named one of 10 candidates for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given to the nation's top point guard. Sophomore Kristen Confroy was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for District 2 Thursday.
Maryland is ranked No. 5 in the latest Associated Press poll and No. 7 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.
