RIO GRANDE, P.R. - The Maryland men's golf team wrapped up at the Puerto Rico Classic Tuesday at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Sophomore David Kocher, who is ranked No. 18 in the country, finished tied for fourth in the individual standings. He shot a combined score of 210 (71-68-71), which was -6 overall.
Senior Tom Harris wound up tied for 11th with his score of 213 (71-70-72), which was -3 over the three rounds.
"Solid start to begin the spring," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "The guys have worked hard over the winter and made the best of our practice time prior to Puerto Rico. David and Tom have been consistent all year and they picked up where they left off in the fall. It was nice to see Tim have a breakout tournament. We'll spend the next two weeks qualifying to fill the last two spots for Aiken."
Freshman Timothy Colanta shot a 73 in Tuesday's final round for a score of 218 (71-74-73), which was two-over overall.
Freshman Reilly Erhardt finished with a 229 (77-74-78) and junior Victor Fox earned a score of 236 (82-77-77).
The Terrapins earned a total team score of 869, which was five-over. Maryland finished eighth in the 15-team field, topping No. 14 Purdue, No. 32 North Carolina State and No. 50 Michigan along the way.
Next, the Terps will compete in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C. March 7-8.
