Softball Maryland Athletics

Terps Upended by #13 Oklahoma, 11-0

Box Score

NORMAN, Okla.- Skylynne Ellazar and Sarah Calta notched hits but Maryland lost to No. 13 Oklahoma for the second day in a row, 11-0 in six innings.

Ellazar led off the game with a single up the middle but that was the only hit Maryland would get through four. Sarah Calta led the fifth off with a bunt single. The Terrapins did total five walks, including two by Hannah Dewey, but it wasn't enough to jumpstart the offense.

Oklahoma scored all three of its runs in the second inning with no outs as a Kady Self homerun put the Sooners on the board. Brenna Nation, who started and went five innings, stopped the bases-loaded no outs threat to hold the Sooners at three with three groundouts.

The following inning, the Sooners did their damage with two outs. Three hits and a Maryland error plated two more Oklahoma runs, all with two outs.

After Nation sat the Sooners down in order in the fourth, the home team scored one in the fifth and five in the sixth to garner a run rule win, 11-0. Paris Townshend, hit a walk-off grand slam on her senior day to seal it.

On the weekend, Hannah Dewey and Skylynne Ellazar both batted .500. Dewey totaled six hits with a double, triple, and a two-run game tying homerun against No. 13 Oklahoma, and four RBI's. Ellazar led the Terps with seven hits, and had two doubles, with a homerun. The two reached base a combined 19 times.
