Facing off

• Maryland's man-down unit was superb against Yale, allowing zero goals on five opportunities. The Terps lead the nation in man-down percentage (12.5 %). Maryland is also ranked fifth nationally in man-up conversion percentage (66.7%).

• Maryland is set to play in California for just the second time in history Saturday. The Terps made their West Coast debut last season when they defeated #2 North Carolina, 10-8, on five goals from then-senior Joe LoCascio and a hat trick by Colin Heacock.

•  The Terps are a perfect 3-0 against top-ranked opponents under head coach John Tillman. Maryland has allowed an average of just seven goals in those three victories. The Terps are 9-23 overall against #1 opponents since 1978.

•  Saturday's meeting marks the ninth matchup in history  between Maryland and Notre Dame, which spent one season as conference foes in the ACC in 2014. The Terps lead the overall series, 5-3.

• Maryland holds a formidable 13-2 record under head coach John Tillman when coming off a loss. The Terps last lost back-to-back regular season games in 2012 - the only occurence in Tillman's six seasons at the helm.

•  The day following Maryland's win over High Point at Maryland Stadium kicked off a span of 25 days away from home for the Terps. Maryland will play four games on the road before returning home against Albany on March 16.

• The Terrapins are 51-4 under John Tillman when scoring at least 10 goals in a game, including a spectacular mark of 32-1 over the last four seasons.

• Freshman faceoff specialist Austin Henningsen has quickly made his mark on the collegiate landscape, winning 79 percent (22-of-28) of his faceoffs. A member of the United States U-19 National Team, Henningsen followed up a 9-of-12 collegiate debut against High Point by winning 13-of-16 faceoffs against #7 Yale.

•  Matt Rambo became the 49th player in Maryland history to eclipse 100 career points just two games into his junior season. Known for his incredible goal scoring ability, Rambo was the facilitator against #7 Yale by matching his career-high with three assists. He is just two goals away from reaching 75 for his career.

• Saturday will be a homecoming of sorts for redshirt sophomore Lucas Gradinger, who grew up in San Diego. A two-time US Lacrosse High School All-american, Gradinger totaled 291 points on 144 goals and 147 assists in high school. He was injured for last year's game in California.

• The Terps boast an all-time record of 775-261-4 (.740), dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished every one of its previous 90 seasons with a .500 or better record, including last season when the Terps went 15-4. The program reached the 700-win milestone with a 15-6 victory over Penn on April 14, 2009 at Ludwig Field.

• During the decade of the 2000s, Maryland went 111-49 for a .694 win percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. In the decade of the 1990s, Maryland posted a 95-47 record. The .669 winning percentage matched Maryland's win percentage of the 1980s when the Terps went 83-41 and also compiled a .669 win percentage.
