Facing off
• The Terps have been phenomenal killing EMO opportunities this season, allowing just three goals on 16 chances (18.8 %) - a mark that ranks fourth in the nation. Among the strong showings were games against top-5 teams Yale (0-for-5) and Notre Dame (0-for-3).
• The Maryland defense was fantastic against #10 Albany last week, holding the Great Danes seven goals below their season average in a 10-7 victory. Albany managed just 23 shots as the Terps controlled possession for nearly the entire game.
• Senior Bryan Cole and junior Colin Heacock have experienced tremendous success against the Tar Heels in the past, combining for 13 points. Cole posted a career-high five points (4G, 1A) in the NCAA Quarters last year, while Heacock has six career goals against UNC.
• Maryland held North Carolina to just 15 goals in a pair of victories last season, defeating the Heels, 10-8, in California, before cruising to a 14-7 victory in the NCAA Quarterfinals. North Carolina was held below 10 goals in just one other game out of its 17 games in 2015.
• Freshman Austin Henningsen earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors after winning a career-high 16 faceoffs on 20 attempts (80%) and scooping a career-high 10 ground balls in the Terrapins' win over Albany last week.
• Maryland has received tremendous support and balance from its first two midfield lines, which have totaled 40 points through six games. The red midfield has posted 29 points (Cole/West Kelly), while the gold midfield (Young, Rotanz, Gradinger) has added 20 points. The Terps' second midfield totaled just nine points through six games last season.
• The Terrapins have played extremely well in man-up situations, scoring on 50 percent of their opportunities (6-of-12). Junior Colin Heacock leads the way with a pair of man-up goals.
• The Terrapins are 54-4 under John Tillman when scoring at least 10 goals in a game, including a spectacular mark of 35-1 over the last four seasons. That trend has continued this season with a perfect 4-0 mark.
• Maryland and North Carolina are set to meet for the 66th time in history Saturday, with the Terps holding a 41-24 series advantage. The teams have met every season since the series began in 1964, and have split the last eight meetings, 4-4.
• Junior Matt Rambo scored his 80th career goal against Albany, moving into a tie for 22nd all-time in Maryland history with Terry Kimball (1976-79). He also ranks t-34th in points with 111. He is currently riding a 25-game point streak and a 18-game goal streak.

Coaching Match-Up
• John Tillman is in his ninth season as a head coach, and sixth with the Terps, with a 87-44 career record for a .664 winning percentage. Tillman is 67-25 (.725) as Maryland's head coach.
• North Carolina's Joe Breschi is in his eighth season as head coach of the Tar Heels.
Series history vs. UNC
• Maryland and North Carolina have a storied history dating back to 1964, with the Terps winning 41-of-65 (.631) all-time meetings.
• The series was extremely one-sided initially, with Maryland winning the first 17 meetings in the series between 1964-80.
• Maryland put an end to a three-game North Carolina win streak by sweeping the Tar Heels in a pair of games last season. The Terrapins stymied the vaunted Carolina offense in both games, holding their former ACC foes to just 15 goals in two games.
• The teams most recently met in last season's NCAA Quarterfinals, when the Terps cruised to a 14-7 victory in Annapolis, Md. The Terps jumped out to a 9-2 halftime advantage and led by as many as 11 goals midway through the third quarter. Bryan Cole posted a then-career high five points (4G, 1A), while then-freshman Connor Kelly broke out for the first hat trick of his career. Kyle Bernlohr made 12 stops in net.
• The Terps also defeated UNC earlier in 2015 at the Pacific Coast Shootout in Santa Ana, Calif. Maryland controlled most of the game, as it led, 7-2, with 16 minutes remaining. The Tar Heel staged a furious rally, but could not overcome the deficit. Joe LoCascio scored a career-high five goals in the game, while Kyle Bernlohr made 11 saves in net.
Maryland routs Princeton
• The Maryland offense was on fire at Princeton, using 12 different goal scorers to cruise past the Tigers, 17-5. The Terps scored on their fist five shots on the game, as senior transfer Pat Young finished the game with four points on two goals and two assists. Colin Heacock posted his second consecutive hat trick, while Connor Kelly and Lucas Gradinger each tallied three points.
• The Terps were also strong on the defensive end against the Tigers, holding the home side to just five goals on the day. Kyle Bernlohr made nine saves in three quarters of action, allowing four goals.
Terps Down Drexel
• Maryland bounced back from a loss to top-ranked Notre Dame by powering past Drexel with a 12-8 victory Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
• The Terps were led by junior attackmen Colin Heacock (4G) and Matt Rambo (3G), who combined for seven goals to lead the Terps offensively. Isaiah Davis-Allen collected a career-high five ground balls in the win, while Kyle Bernlohr had nine saves in net.
Get To 10 And Win
• Since John Tillman took over the program in 2011, Maryland has won 54 of the 58 games in which it has scored 10 or more goals for a .931 winning percentage.
• The Terps have won 35 of their last 36 games when scoring at least 10 goals, only falling to Johns Hopkins during that streak in 2015.

Holding Opponents To Single-Digits
• Maryland is 60-10 since Tillman took over the program in 2011 when it allows nine goals or less, for an .857 winning percentage.
• The Terps are 36-5 over the last three seasons when allowing less than 10 goals.
Consecutive 10-Win Seasons
• Maryland's 11-10 win over 19th-ranked Loyola on April 8, 2015 extended the Terps' streak of double-digit win seasons to 13, which is the longest active streak in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse.
• There are only four programs with a current streak of at least seven-straight 10-win seasons:
- Maryland (13): 2015 (15-4), 2014 (13-4), 2013 (10-4), 2012 (12-6), 2011 (13-5), 2010 (12-4), 2009 (10-7), 2008 (10-6), 2007 (10-6), 2006 (12-5), 2005 (11-6), 2004 (13-3), 2003 (12-4)

TERPS' 91st SEASON OF LACROSSE
• The Terps boast an all-time record of 775-261-4 (.740), dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished every one of its previous 90 seasons with a .500 or better record, including last season when the Terps went 15-4. The program reached the 700-win milestone with a 15-6 victory over Penn on April 14, 2009 at Ludwig Field.
• During the decade of the 2000s, Maryland went 111-49 for a .694 win percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. In the decade of the 1990s, Maryland posted a 95-47 record. The .669 winning percentage matched Maryland's win percentage of the 1980s when the Terps went 83-41 and also compiled a .669 win percentage.
• So far, Maryland is 53-17 in the 2010's for a .757 winning percentage - on pace for the best decade in Maryland history.
