COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Each week during the 2015-16 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Chioma Onyekwere of the Maryland women's track and field team. 

Onyekwere continued her stellar senior campaign Friday at the University of Virginia Quad Meet, breaking a 34-year old school record in the discus throw. Her mark of 54.24 meters (177-11) won the event, and smashed the previous Maryland record of 170-05 set back in 1982 by Marita Walton. She again competed in the discus on Saturday at the Lou Onesty Invitational, winning the event and winning the shot put for three victories on the weekend.  She currently ranks inside the top-30 nationally in both events.

This is the second straight week a track athlete has been honored after junior Micha Powell was recognized last week. Onyekwere and the rest of the Terps will enter a brief hiatus from competition this weekend before returning to action at the Morgan State Legacy Meet and Larry Ellis Princeton Invite April 22-23.
