COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A trio of Maryland men's lacrosse players have been earned Big Ten Conference honors this week after strong showings in the Terps critical conference victory against Rutgers last week.
Junior Tim Muller earned his third Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, while junior Dylan Maltz was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore Will Bonaparte was named Specialist of the Week.
Maltz was also named Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week for his efforts.
Muller helped anchor a Maryland defense that held Rutgers five goal below it season average. The junior continued his dominance on the defensive end, collecting a career-high five ground balls and also causing a pair of turnovers.
Maltz was spectacular against Rutgers, tallying a career-high four goals on five shots in addition to collecting two ground balls. Maltz scored three of his goals during a critical 7-0 third quarter run for Maryland, including the eventual game-winner.
Bonaparte, meanwhile, made his first collegiate start against Rutgers and did not disappoint, winning a career-high 15 faceoffs (15-of-23) and scooping a career-high six ground balls. Bonaparte dominated when it counted in the second half, winning 10-of-14 faceoffs to key a critical 7-0 run for the Terps.
The Terps return to action tonight, April 19, at 7 pm as they welcome No. 7 Navy for a non-conference tilt on Big Ten Network.
