COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Incoming freshman outside hitter Gia Milana was selected as one of 36 players who will train and compete as part of the U.S. Collegiate National Team-Indianapolis program, as announced by USA Volleyball Friday.
The squad is part of USA Volleyball's High Performance pipeline and is considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team.
Milana enrolled at Maryland in January and is the Terps' first Under Armour First Team All-American in program history. She was named the Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Volleyball Michigan. The Romeo, Mich., native was named to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 last month, which recognizes the nation's top incoming collegiate freshmen.
The group will train and compete from June 21-30 in Indianapolis. After the program is complete, the athletes will be divided into three 12-player rosters and will compete in a round-robin tournament from June 26-29.
Athletes were selected through the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held in February at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
