BUCKHANNON, W.V. - Maryland women's basketball great Vicky Bullett was named head coach of the West Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball team Tuesday.
Bullett set countless records in her four years at Maryland, along the way helping the Terrapins to three ACC titles, the 1988 Elite Eight and the 1989 Final Four. A 1989 Kodak All-American, she averaged 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She was also named ACC Player of the Year in 1989.
Her program records of 1,928 career points and 968 career rebounds stood for nearly 20 years. She also notched 220 career steals with 170 career blocks.
A two-time Olympian, she was part of the USA Women's Basketball Team that won gold in 1988 and captured bronze in 1992. She played six seasons in the WNBA. Bullett was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
Bullett spent the last four years as the head coach at Hagerstown Community College. At Hagerstown last season, the Hawks went 25-8 and appeared in the NJCAA tournament before finishing the season ranked No. 7 nationally. For more on Bullett's hiring, click here.
