Taylor Named National Rookie of the Week

BALTIMORE – After helping the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team to the Big Ten Tournament title, goalie Megan Taylor was named Inside Lacrosse's National Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.

Against Rutgers in the tournament semifinals, Taylor made four saves and allowed just three goals in 30 minutes of play while also picking up one ground ball. In the championship game against Northwestern, the Glenelg, Md., native made seven saves and notched two ground balls.

Taylor was unanimously selected to the All-Big Ten team last week, and was named the conference's Goaltender of the Year on Monday. She was also selected to the Big Ten all-tournament team. Taylor was previously named IL's National Rookie of the Week on April 6.

The Terps will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament this weekend. Maryland will face the winner of the Virginia-Johns Hopkins first round game on Sunday at noon at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
