
Terps Set for Action at UWW World Trials, University Duals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland wrestling team will have several wrestlers in competition this weekend between the 2016 UWW World Team Trials and University Duals May 20-22.
Rising sophomore Youssif Hemida will represent the Terps at UWW Worlds hosted at Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas after qualifying at 120 kg last month. The Mamaroneck, N.Y. native secured All-America honors at UWW Freestyle Nationals in Las Vegas after securing four wins en route to a spot on the podium. Results will be available via trackwrestling.com and video via flowrestling.com.
The winners in each weight class earn the right to represent the U.S. at the 2016 UWW Junior World Championships in Macon, France this August. Athletes competing in the UWW Junior World Team Trials were born 1996-1998.
A host of UMD wrestlers will also compete this weekend at George Mason for the University National Freestyle & Greco Roman Duals.
The University National Freestyle & Greco Roman Duals will pit some of the toughest Olympic style wrestlers in the country against each other. The tournament will be attended by college club teams from around the country, and includes local powers George Mason University, American University and the United States Naval Academy.
