EUGENE, Ore. – The Maryland track and field team wrapped up its 2016 outdoor season Thursday at the NCAA Championships on the campus of the University of Oregon. Maryland's three qualifiers competed in the semifinals and finals of their respective events against the nation's top competition at historic Hayward Field.

Sophomore Alexandra Lucki was the first Terp to compete Thursday evening, running in the semifinals of the 1500 meter event. Competing in her first NCAA Championship event, Lucki took 12th in her heat with a time of 4:31.08.

Junior Micha Powell capped off a breakout junior season in the 400 meter dash, running in her second career NCAA Championship after qualifying for the indoor championships earlier this year. Powell ran in one of the outer lanes of her heat, posting a mark of 54.03 to take fifth in the race and 18th overall in the event.

Senior Chioma Onyekwere anchored the day for the Terps in the shot put, also competing in her second career NCAA Championship. Onyekwere threw 16.27 meters to place 17th in the career and cap off her career as a two-time NCAA qualifier and two-time All-Big Ten performer.

Arkansas leads the women's team competition with 26 points after day one, while Texas A&M (16) and Georgia (13) round out the top-three. The Championships will conclude Saturday, June 11.
