Rutan Signs with Romanian Professional Squad

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Former Maryland women's basketball guard Katie Rutan has signed to play with the Romanian professional team Phoenix Galati this fall.
Rutan played for the Terrapins for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. She shot 40 percent from behind the arc (127-317) in her two seasons with the Terrapins, helping them to the 2014 Final Four. She was named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2013 and 2014.
In her senior season, she saw action in all 34 games and averaging 6.6 points per game, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 43.7 percent from outside the arc.
In her first season overseas, Rutan played for AEO Proteas Voulas in Greece, where she averaged 15.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and shot 44.7 percent from outside the arc.
