Terps Announce 2016-17 Big Ten Opponents

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head coach Kerry McCoy and the University of Maryland wrestling program announced its 2016-17 Big Ten opponents today, which includes matchups against four top-10 NCAA finishers in defending National Champs Penn State, Ohio State, Illinois and Michigan.

The Terps are slated to wrestle five B1G matches at the XFINITY Center and four road duals as Maryland enters its third year in the Big Ten this season.

Home conference duals for the Terps include Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana and Northwestern. UMD will battle Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State away from College Park for a total of nine conference duals.

Maryland will have the unique opportunity to wrestle Ohio State at Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md. in January, the alma mater of U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist and Buckeye heavyweight Kyle Snyder.

The Big Ten Championships will be hosted in Bloomington, Ind. on the campus of Indiana University March 3-4. This season's NCAA Championships will be held March 16-18 at the Scotttrade Center in St. Louis, Mo. 

The squad's full schedule and start times, along with season ticket information will be released at a later date.
